Brian Heveron-Smith is a classically-trained musician but a theater kid at heart; these two sides to him eventually reconciled and turned him into a versatile musical theater composer, lyricist, and writer. Brian’s score for Shipping, a new musical from tv writers Jen Jackson and Louisa Kellogg, was called “a masterpiece” by Broadway World, with LA Theatrix stating, “the music is so thoughtfully composed that each song is a hit.” Brian wrote the book, music, and co-wrote the lyrics for Fanny: A Classical-Punk Musical, which received rave reviews from its two 2024 workshops at The Elysian in Los Angeles. Other musical theater works include the stupidly heartfelt Three Rats Audition to Open for Ricky Gervais and Brian’s absurd first foray into theater writing, The Day That I Died: A Good Charlotte Jukebox Musical.
Brian is a longtime collaborator of comedian Chris Fleming and their co-written songs have amassed over a million streams on Spotify. Brian composed the music for Fleming’s Peacock comedy special, Chris Fleming: Hell, and he also wrote music for Fleming’s hit web-series, Gayle, the Gayle Live Tour, and I’m The Mayor of Bimmi Gardens, Fleming’s Adult Swim pilot.
As a pianist and music director, Brian has worked for Second City, Baby Wants Candy, American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Story Pirates, Inside Broadway, Silver Arrow Band, Young People’s Chorus of NYC, Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall, and Queens College. He has toured extensively on both keys and drums, and he has a degree in orchestral percussion from the Eastman School of Music.
